Former Speaker Ghali Naabba dead at 65

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Ghali Umar Na abba is dead. He was aged 65.

Family sources told Daily Sun that the former Speaker died at about 3.00 am on Wednesday at an Abuja hospital after a protracted illness.

Ahmed Tijjani Lawal, his former spokesperson who signed a statement on behalf of the family announcing his passage , said that his funeral prayers would hold at Kofar Kudu, inside Kano’s Emir’s palace by 4.30 pm

According to the statement, the deceased would thereafter be conveyed to Dandolo burial ground situated at Gorun – Dutse area in the state capital for burial according to Islamic rites.

Former Speaker Naabba, who had been sick for some time now and had been treated abroad at some point, was born in Kano on September 27, 1958.

He emerged as the Speaker of the House of Representatives after he was elected to represent Municipal Federal Constituency of Kano State under the ticket of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
