The independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made promise to Nigerians to RE-RUN BYE-ELECTION across the states of the federation comes February 2024 in order to fill some existing positions in both states and federal legislatures.
Speaking at the meeting on Monday 18th,Dec,2023.The INEC Chairman, Prof.Mahmoud Yakubu stated this to political stakeholders of different parties, that the Tribunals sitting in Abuja has ordered the Commission to RE-RUN BYE-ELECTIONS in thirty-four constituencies that is made up of One Senatorial District, eleven Federal constituencies and Twenty-Two state Assembly.
Mahmoud, however, stated that both elections would be held on the same day for transparency. He added that all political parties must conduct primaries within the stipulated period given to them by law.
ABS correspondent, Kingsley Bitson, gathered that the essence of the meeting is to brief the political leaders ahead of the new development, and to also keep them informed and fully prepared for the task ahead.
